What services do you offer at Handberg's Marine and Marina?
Welcome to Handberg’s Marina – Your full service marina for all your marine and marina needs! We sell boats and motors (Crestliner, PolarKraft, Alumaweld, Godfrey Group Pontoons-Sweetwater/Premium/Aqua Patio/Sanpan, Evinrude and Yamaha) and have factory trained technicians to work on your motors. We offer boat storage; inside, outside and marina slips. You can rent a boat and motor or rent an RV site for the season or short term. We have a small store with awesome hand dipped Cedar Crest ice cream cones, fresh ground coffee as well as clothing and gifts. You can also pick up a few groceries, tackle, ice, bait and other items. We also build custom floating docks and offer winter boat floor replacement. But most important, we want you to feel welcome when you come to Handberg's!
What do I do with my garbage?
We sell blue garbage bags for $3 per bag. You can leave the blue garbage bag at the marina in the designated place for garbage. Approximately three tall kitchen garbage bags will fit in one blue bag.
Do you have gas available on the dock?
Yes, you can boat right up to the main dock and we'll put gas in your boat. If it's early or late season and no one is on the docks, please come into the store to get someone.
Do you sell fishing licenses?
Yes, we have a DNR electronic license machine.
Do you sell trail stickers for snowmobiles?
Yes, through the DNR electronic license system.
Do you charge for parking?
Yes, we charge $5 per day and that includes use of the launch ramp as well.
Boat Storage:
What different types of boat storage do you offer?
Inside-year round, winter only (usually 7 months) or summer only (usually 5 months)
Outside-year round, winter only or summer only (same, usually 7 months for winter or 5 months for summer)
What is included with boat storage?
When you store your boat at Handberg's you become part of the Handberg's extended family. Year round boat storage and summer boat storage include parking for your vehicle. We ask that your guests pay for parking though. As of summer 2019 we will have bathrooms with flush toilets. The good ol outhouses are always available. If you need to haul water, you can fill your water jugs.
How do I pay for boat storage?
Come on up to the office and get started on the paperwork. We will ask you for your personal information, your boat information and have you sign an insurance / hold harmless agreement. We will ask you for payment for storage up front and will ask you to pay by check. We do accept credit cards but prefer checks because of the credit card fees.
RV Sites:
Is firewood available?
Yes, for $5.00 per bag.
Do RV sites have electricity?
30amp and 50 amp is available for a small fee. Each site is metered.
Are there showers available?
We can finally answer YES to this question. As of 2019 we have showers available!
Is there a dock for my boat?
Yes, a dock is included with each RV Site, seasonal or short term.
How far is it to the water?
A hop, skip and jump. Short term sites; Lakeview is pretty much right on the water and The Pines is just a little further. Seasonal Sites are a very short walk to the docks.
What are check in and check out times?
Check in is anytime after 1:00 pm and check out is by 12 noon. IF the site is not rented on your arrival day you are welcome to check in early.
What types of boats do you have?
Fishing Boats, Pontoon Boats, Runabout Boat
What are the departure and return times?
That depends if the boat is rented prior to your arrival. If the boat is not rented the day before your arrival we can have it ready for you first thing in the morning. If it is being returned the morning of your arrival we can have it ready between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Return time is 9:00 a.m.
Do you have a minimum amount of time I have to rent a boat?
During peak season, Memorial Weekend thru Labor Day Weekend, we appreciate a two day rental unless it is a last minute rental and there is a boat available.
Do you require a deposit to make a reservation?
Yes, a deposit of one day’s rent is required to secure a reservation. Deposits are nonrefundable.
When do I pay for the boat rental?
Payments are made when you arrive at Handberg’s. We will go over maps, navigation and a boat check list. You will leave with a full tank of gas and only pay for the gas you use upon your return.
Can we go to Voyageurs National Park with your rental boats?
Yes. You can go day tripping or tent camping in the Park. You do not need a permit for a day trip. There is water everywhere with over 40% of the park being water. For more information on exploring Voyageurs National Park visit https://www.nps.gov/voya/index.htm
Do we need to purchase a Park permit for camping?
Yes. VNP requires all campers to have and display a permit while overnight camping in the park. Here is a link for more information on these permits and Park information in general https://www.nps.gov/voya/planyourvisit/tent-camping.htm
Can I go to Canada with your rental boat?
Yes, you will need a passport though. You must check into Canada Customs on Sandpoint Lake if you are planning fishing or stepping foot in Canada. Upon returning to Minnesota you must check into United States Customs. There are U.S. Customs Kiosks throughout Crane Lake including Handberg's.
